How long do I need therapy for?
That depends. Some people prefer very short-term therapy and like very simple concrete ideas for change, and some stay much longer. I generally recommend the people stay for at least 6 months, because it takes a while to uncover years of buried feelings. While there is no set time, I find that clients do well with making a full commitment to healthy lifestyle changes.
What if I come in once and don’t like it?
You’re not obligated to stay. My approach doesn’t work for everyone, and if you feel like it’s not a good fit, it’s totally fine to stop sessions any time. I advise at least three sessions with any therapist in order to get a feel for if it will work. I also greatly appreciate if you let me know you're leaving and don't just disappear, as therapists tend to worry about you!
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently accepting in-network Blue Cross Blue Shield, and I am also out of network for multiple other insurances. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you’re unsure about out of network coverage. Please note that the only services that will be billed to insurance are therapy services. For all coaching services, it is an out of pocket expense.
What forms of payment do you accept?
You can pay by cash, check, or credit card, or PayPal, and Venmo. There is a small fee for credit card charges and PayPal.
What’s your cancellation policy?
I have a very strict 48-hour cancellation policy. If a cancellation or no-show happens after this point, you will be billed for the full amount of the session. If you’re using your insurance you will responsible for an $100 out-of-pocket fee that must be paid prior to rescheduling. I do my best to reschedule during the week, but my schedule fills quickly, so try to only commit where you’re sure. For all other services, your payment will not be refunded for missed or cancelled sessions.
Do you offer a free initial consultation?
No. Time does not permit this, but I’m happy to answer questions by email and/or phone prior to sessions.
Do you do phone and online sessions?
Yes! This is the way of the future, but in-person is always best. I’m happy to schedule phone and online Zoom sessions for those who have scheduling conflicts, or for those who just feel more comfortable with this.
Do I have to come into my sessions with a plan of what to talk about?
It’s up to you. Some people tend to have a very clear idea of what’s bothering them or coming up for them, and others don’t. There’s no pressure to come in with a plan. We can let it flow and take it from there.
How long are sessions?
Individual Sessions are 45 minutes, unless otherwise specified. Couples sessions are at least 60 minutes.

What are you office hours?
I’m in the office Tuesday through Thursday from 8am to 10pm, and available by phone/Zoom sessions throughout the remainder of the week as well.
What if there’s something I just don’t want to talk about?
You don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to! However, I find that the things that people are the most resistant to are the things that need to be worked on the most. I will never push to a place of discomfort, but I will encourage you to push your own boundaries as much as you can. I also may ask you some questions that other therapists have not/will not. I ask a lot of questions related to physical health/digestion, etc. Why? Our body is a whole. It is a system, and I believe that every part of us is related to another. People tend to have a lot of physical symptoms from emotional problems and emotional symptoms from physical problems, so don't be surprised if I ask about all kinds of stuff.
